April 2017

God's Not Dead
Easter Messages 2017
April 16 through May 28, 2017

God's Not Dead
Easter 2017 Messages
April 16 through May 28, 2017

That’s the Easter declaration. God, in the person of Jesus Christ, is not dead and buried...but very much alive and well. But that belief is often challenged by the personal experience of everyday life when we let circumstances determine what we believe.

By retelling biblical stories that present the reality of God’s presence and power in the face of doubt, disbelief, and/or disobedience—the messages will allow you to confront today’s challenges to faith in God with the reality that “God’s Not Dead!”

Look forward to these studies:

Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of Christ (Matthew 28:1-10)

April 23: The Story of The Golden Calf (Exodus 32:1-33:6)

April 30: The Story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17:1-50)

May 7: The Story of Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:16-39)

May 14: The Story of  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
in the Blazing Furnace (Daniel 3:1-30)

May 21: The Story of Daniel and the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6:1-28)

May 28: The Story of God’s Delay (2 Peter 3:1-18)

Whether you’re carrying God's good news across the ocean or down the street, you’re bound to run into persecution. In this insightful study, Nik Ripken shows that it’s how we respond that makes all the difference. Learn to move beyond “safe” Christianity, operate wisely as a “sheep among wolves,” and embrace the call to radical discipleship! This is a 6-week study led by Pastor Ronnie Walker. The study began April 19 and will continue through May 24. Although the class is already underway, you may still attend although a study guide book may not be available.

Membership Class

Membership Class

The next Membership Class is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, 2017.

Getting to know all about First Baptist At The Villages is easy. Membership Classes are held periodically throughout the year and give the opportunity to discover the value of being part of a local body of believers, and specifically what it means to be part of God's loving family here at First Baptist. There is no obligation to join when you attend the class however the class is a prerequisite to membership.

Refreshments are served and you will have the opportunity for fellowship with the pastors as well a others considering membership. Class is held in Fellowship Hall from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. As a reminder, the class will be announced in the Sunday Worship Bulletin and on the website. You may register online (see link below), or by making a note on the Connection Card in the Sunday bulletin. Please feel free to come to the class even if you have note registered.

The class is designed to answer questions such as:

  • Why does the church exist?
  • Who are we, the church, and specifically First Baptist Church At The Villages?
  • What is the purpose of the church?
  • What do we believe?
  • What are the requirements for membership?
  • How is the church governed?
  • With whom are we, as First Baptist Church At The Villages, affiliated?
  • Who owns the church property?
  • How can the church property be used?
  • Do we have a constitution and how can it be changed or amended?

Also, to assist you in finding a place to serve, information is made available about all the ministries here at the church. That same information is available on this website by going to the home page and clicking on "Ministries" on the navigation bar.

When you make the important decision to join the Family here at First Baptist, you will meet briefly with a Commitment Counselor who will gather the necessary information for adding your name to the membership rolls. You will also be asked to quickly have your photo taken for use in the church directory.

If you have other questions about the class, you may call the church office and speak with Ken Howard, Pastor of Administration, or his assistant, Rita Carter. 352.205.7114
