First Baptist Women's Ministry

The purpose of the Women's Ministry is to assist women in becoming fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Through a wide variety of activities, such as Bible Studies, Luncheons, The Prayer Shawl and Blessing Bag Ministry and other service projects, women are encouraged, and provided an opportunity to grow in their faith, cultivate friendships, deepen their prayer life, and serve and support one another and the community. Some service projects are detailed below. Watch this webpage for updates and news of upcoming events and Bible Studies.

Prayer Shawl and Blessing Bag Ministry
Meets the second Saturday of each month
In Fellowship Hall at 10:00am

Prayer Shawl and Blessing Bag Ministry

On the second Saturday of each month, at 10:00am, the Women's Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Blessing Bag Ministry meet together in Fellowship Hall.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry, under the leadership of Linda Ratliff, crochets shawls and lap robes for those in local nursing and hospice facilities and church family or friends who may be ill, home bound, recovering from surgery or grieving the loss of a family member.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is also making red, white and blue lap robes for The Villages Honor Flight Veterans; sweaters for children which will be distributed by World Vision; and large lap robes for children who live in The Ocala National Forest.

In January 2017, The Prayer Shawl Ministry took on a special project - making special gifts to add to Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes. When the tally was done, they had made over 1000 gifts! Gifts were prayed over and will richly bless children all over the world.

If you can knit or crochet and love making new friends, come join these industrious ladies in this wonderful time of fellowship. If you would like to knit or crochet in y our home and not attend meetings, the Ministry can provide you with yarn and pick up the finished shawls or lap robes. If you don't knit or crochet but would still like to be part of this ministry, assistance is needed to deliver the shawls and have a word of prayer with the recipient. And, the ministry can always use donations of yarn.

The Blessing Bag Ministry, under the leadership of Gail Raber, has distributed hundreds of "corn bags." A "corn bag" is just a cloth bag, sewn and filled with dried corn. But, when made and given to someone with love, it becomes a "Blessing Bag." Ladies who receive them continue to be blessed because the corn bag can be heated in the microwave and used as moist heat on sore aching muscles.

Blessing Bags are given as gifts when visiting women at the FBC Leesburg Women's Shelter, mothers and children staying at Shepherd's Lighthouse in Belleview, and the ladies and children at The Haven in Leesburg. Blessing Bags are also being given as a gift to new ladies who join the church.

Belleview Christian Academy
Library Project

Belleview Christian Academy
Library Project

Belleview Christian Academy is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Belleview and its ministry is to teach students a biblical world view through God-centered curriculum under the guidance of skilled, devoted and consecrated teachers who demonstrate and, therefore influence, students to live by biblical standards.

Belleview Christian Academy students will acquire a biblical world view evident by faith in Jesus Christ and the standards by which they live.

The FBC Women's Ministry is assisting the Academy with starting a library at the school. They have already assisted with the need for shelving and are now beginning the process of collecting books to go on the shelves.

To begin the library, they need quality reading books and current books the children can use to research and write papers - books on rocks, animals, and history as well as biographies. Books should be suitable for grades 1 through 8. Contact Shari Kumler if you have books to donate or would like to assist with the project.
